The P Files: Week 31

Preg Meg

At 7 months, I'm finally really starting to show. Wearing a dress with a rather tent-like hemline doesn't hurt, either. Anyway, there I am dressed in my anniversary finery. We took this photo when we got home after dinner, which is a good thing because I felt like I looked really cute all night -- but after I saw this photo, my heart sank a little. I mean come on, doesn't my arm look a bit like a hambone?! Yeah, my fetish with Swedish meatballs and malts is really starting to show itself in a rather unflattering way. I guess I better dust off my FitMama DVD.

Enough of my body issues. What's up with shrimpy? Well, the fifty-odd baby websites I read on a weekly basis are telling me that it weighs around 3 pounds right now, and it can blink. It also moves around a hell of a lot, which is still very novel and fun. What is not novel and fun is the slight burning I feel in my esophogus after eating. Some kind of mild heartburn that is caused by the fact that I have a PERSON living inside me who is crushing my stomach up under one of my boobs.

We had our first baby shower on Saturday which was thrown by my AMAZING friend, Jennie. We had lots of friends there with their little shrimpies and it was a really good time. I'd show you photos, but I'm a jackass and I forgot my camera, so unless my friend Matt sends me the photos he took (oh, excuse me, I need to pick up that hint I just dropped) my description of the event will have to do.

We got lots of fun, wee baby items and -- despite my protestations -- we got a diaper wipe warmer. Which I will use because all my friends with kids swear that wiping a baby's ass with a warm cloth is SO MUCH BETTER than wiping with a cold one, even though cold ones were just fine for my generation, but then again my mom put me to sleep in a dresser drawer, so I may be a bit jaded.

Jennie did the COOLEST THING that a shower hostess could ever do. She provided me with Thank You notes with pre-addressed and stamped envelopes (an envelope for everyone who RSVP'ed). I don't know if she made that up, or if Martha Stewart came to her in a vision one night, but DAMN. I'm totally stealing that next time I if I ever throw someone a shower. We also played some fun shower games -- the big hit being the melted-candy-bars-in-diapers game. Where you open up the diaper and have to guess which candy bar is melted inside.

I have seen my future, and it looks like a steaming pile of nougat and peanuts.

Meghan, I think you look fantastic! It was so good to talk to you on Sat. I'm so happy that you are doing so well. After all the drama and dumb boys, who would have thought that the girls of 3250 would have ended up married to these amazing men w/ such happy lives. Take care of yourself and little shrimpy.

You look adorable!!! I see no hambones at all! I love the thank you idea for the baby shower. How great is that!

You are getting so close now, I am almost jealous ;) I hope your friend Matt sends those pictures, I bet they are great!
