Bon Anniversaire

Can you believe it's been a year already?!
our wedding day

For our annivesary, we decided that it would be fun to take a photo of ourselves (and hopefully continue the tradition every year). So, this morning (after a lovely, eggy breakfast at home), we met Craig and his beautiful photo assistant in Rice Park for a photo shoot (we'll share them as soon as we get them!).

This evening, Jeremy and I had dinner at The Capital Grille. They knew it was our anniversary, and gave us an amazing booth where we could sit next to each other and watch the string quartet play. It was lovely.

Our waiter (after hearing I couldn't have champagne) brought us two flutes of sparkling apple cider. Jeremy started with calamari, and I had a salad of julienned honecrisp apples with chevre, roasted walnuts, and baby greens with vinaigrette. For the main course, I had filet mignon topped with crabmeat served over asparagus spears and drizzled with bearnaise sauce (otherwise known as "the heart stopper"). Jeremy had a sushi-quality seared tuna steak served over ginger rice, and we split an order of the butternut squash side dish. It was very decadent, and very good. (Except poor J-Wizzle couldn't finish his tuna because he had eaten too much calamari.)

Our waiter offered to buy us dessert -- and since Jeremy couldn't really eat anything on the dessert menu I got to try the White Chocolate Mousse while he consoled himself with a snifter of NAVAN. (For those of you who are counting, yes -- an entire village could be kept alive for a week on the amount of calories we consumed in one dinner.)

It was a perfect anniversary experience; everyone from the host to the manager wished us a Happy Anniversary and they seemed to go out of their way to make sure we had a special time. (Which was nice, considering we spent an entire week's grocery budget on dinner.)

Afterward, we went across the street to Shinder's for the latest issues of Wired and Atomic Ranch. (Anniversary or not, the man must have his Wired magazine!)

And now, here we sit, side-by-side at our respective computers, rubbing our bellies and complaining about how we ate too much. Nerds in love. Still crazy after all these years this year.

I'm so happy with my life, I could just about barf.

if you were in 9th grade french like me, you'd know that 'bon anniversaire' actually translates to 'happy birthday'. jeez, get your foreign languages straight.

Congratuations and Happy Anniversary!!! I hope you have many, many more to come :)

So beautiful, so beautiful. And as Craig's assistant, I got a sneak peak at your anniversary photos - they're just lovely.

I can't believe I got blog-burned by a FRESHMAN. Snap.

Bonne Anniversaire to both of you. Just to chime in on the language issue here: It is bonne not bon because anniversaire is a feminine noun and it simply can be used for both birthdays (anniversaires de naissance) or other types of anniveraries, such as weddings or whatever (une anniversaire de mariage.
I don't think I've ever been so happy I could just about barf! No. Wait a minute. There was that one time when I was eighteen and had had about 15 beers and almost as many shots of straight bacardi. But then I did barf. Aww, forget it.

Many happy returns of the day.
