Belabored Day

Summer is over, and so is my blog vacation. The headlines (in no particular order):

The biggest news of the summer is that last week I got to my goal weight at Weight Watchers. Pretty sweet! Since last year at this time, I've lost a total of 35.8 pounds, which averages out to .72 pounds per week. (So, very slow and healthy for those of you who are concerned about me getting all Mary-Kate.) Jeremy gave me a set of In Motion speakers as a congratulatory gift. He's impossible not to love.

I finally met my friend Mike's baby. Cutest. Kid. Ever. Hands down, bar none, please close down all uteruses the world over because the contest has ended. I want to freeze-dry this kid so that he is this cute for all eternity. I want to just gnaw on his cheeks and give him those stomach-blattffff things that babies love. You know, where you put your mouth on their fat little potter-pot-bellies and blow? Ugh, this kid is just too damn cute for his own good. He's poised for total world cuteness domination and must be stopped. (By the way, I loved Mike's essay on dadhood. Go check it out.)

I was hoping to have a remodeled site ready by now, but all I've got so far is a sketch. Rest assured that soon a refurbished irish-girl.com will be unveiled, though! Nothing major, just some tweaks that I've been thinking about for a long time.

I'm marrying the most wonderful man ever invented in 60 days! The big stuff is done (location, dress, invites, groom), and now the devil is in the details (centerpieces, shoes, hair, jewelry). So far, it's been very fun. Some tears have been shed, but that's to be expected, right? Say I'm right, because I'm the goddamn bride and this is my day.

The Grindstone
At work, I had my first review (raves all around, which felt really good). I graduated from a "workstation" to an office, and I have a lovely view (image coming soon). In early Summer, I launched a website that made it into The Show. We had a gigantic set of layoffs in July, which made things both uncomfortable and insanely busy for a few weeks (uncomfortable because lots of your friends get the axe, busy because you inherit all their work), but we're recovering nicely now and things are looking up.

Okay, I have to go practice writing my name and Jeremy's last name together in my diary now.

It's good to be back.

I had a remarkable spike in traffic during your absense. I can't decide if I'm happy about this or not.

Welcome back, boobala!

Rats...I guess the fact that you have fired your site back up again means I have zero excuses left and am absolutely going to have to start blogging again as I can no longer point to your site and say "See? She is taking a vacation...."

Yeah, consensus seems to be that the rest of us bloggy folks need to get on the electronic stick, as it were.

Welcome back. It's been far too quiet around here. :-)

Booya! You're back. This is sweet. I almost gave up hope until after the wedding.

Yay! I was wondering when this day would arrive.
