Breaking the News
Me: I have something to tell you. You're not going to like it.
Dad: (muting Entertainment Tonight, where he is immersed in the drama of Demi and Ashton.)
Me: Um. *cough* So, I know you aren't going to like this, but I'm moving in to Jeremy's house.
Dad: Well, when are you getting MARRIED?!
Me: Um, soon. I guess. Soonish. Whatever. I don't know.
Dad: Well, I'll tell you what, you get married and then you move in. That's they way you do it. (unmuting ET)
Me: Well, see, my lease is up in a week, and, um, it just makes sense for us.
Dad: (muting the television again) Oh, I see. It makes sense. Well, when are you getting MARRIED?!
Me: Uh, soon. He's has to talk to you about it first. Or something. Whatever. I don't know.
Dad: Well, have him give me a goddamn call! I'm available anytime!
(pause)
Dad: Does he play golf?
LOL - well, if he doesn't play golf I'd be willing to bet he's gonna start soon.
Good luck, meg...I wouldn't want to be in your shoes! Or Jeremy's, for that matter.

Then after he swallowed his tongue you could have made him feel so much better when you let him know you were kidding, you aren't a lesbo and to prove it you're moving in with a boy! I think it is cool you told him.. now he has to deal with it, you go ahead and live your life.. he may be upset, but I have a hunch he will come around. It may take a while, but he will come to cope with it.

Alan and I now have our realtor (recommended by Meghan!) and are finalizing the fianacial paperwork tomorrow - and will start looking at houses next week. And I still havent told the folks. I am seeing them on the Fourth of July and will be breaking the news to them then. Talk about fireworks!
