Divine Hammer

What am I getting myself into?

I left Jeremy alone for five minutes on Sunday while I ran out to get a cup of coffee, in preparation for The Kitchen Cleanup Project we were preparing to embark on. (The bachelor kitchen appears to double as a toolshed and filing cabinet, so I had to bring the organizational fists of fury up in there.)

So I'm gone for five minutes, and in that time he manages to do this to the bathroom.

I've determined that he has an as-yet-undiscovered disease which I refer to as HADD (Handyman Attention Deficit Disorder). Once he does one "handy" thing, he runs around trying to find other things to bash with whatever tool is in his hand at the time. In this example, he was installing a new mailbox at the moment I was leaving the house for coffee. Finding himself unsupervised, and done with the task at hand, he wandered into the bathroom and started swingin'.

He did manage to get all of the wainscoting and two layers of old tile off the wall, which is good because it needed to be done. It was just a little disconcerting as a "surprise." Oh, and we got the kitchen cleaned up, too - to the point where I've got the cereal boxes arranged by height. Maybe he should be asking what he's getting into...

Woah! Heavy-duty POWER TOOLS totally rock.

LOL... least he's into that stuff - alternative is havin a couch potato on your hands! ;)

My other half can be that way too - the way I keep it under control is to schedule parties as deadlines - far enough out that the project can get finished but soon enough that we're not living in a disaster zone for ever... All works cuz I KNOW he won't let the place be shown half done! :)

it's a good lesson for the anal retentive types to hang out with the abstract randoms. i mean, there has to be someone to get things going, and someone to clean up the mess right?

Hey, look at it this way, at least he isn't swinging the hammer at neatly stacked cerial boxes.. thus making him a cerial killer.

plus...he putts pretty good.......
