Weekend Update

For the record, I don't like St. Patrick's Day. I mean, I like it in that it is a lovely Irish holiday, but I don't like that it's an excuse for people to get shitfaced and paint their faces green. That being said, Happy Saint Patrick's Day and sorry, but you won't see me out at the bar. I'll just be chillin' on the couch, wearing nothing but my sash.

Notable weekend events:
- Dinner, a movie, video games and late-night Mexican with Jeremy on Friday night. A good time was had by all. An especially good time was had by the people who gathered to watch us fail miserably at Dance Dance Revolution.

- Saturday morning trek around the lake. Managed to run for 10 minutes. This is good. I'm thinking about signing up for a 5k to give me something to work toward. Otherwise, I get bored with the running thing. Becca says if I keep it up I'll get addicted to it and love it. All I'm saying is, gin and ciggies became fun a lot quicker than running is.

- Saturday night: The 2nd Annual St. Paddy's Day party at Becca, Elise & Sara's house. I didn't really feel like going; I felt more like reading the book I bought last Monday, but I knew I couldn't bail or the tribe would string me up. It actually ended up being really fun; I mingled a lot, met a lot of new people, and managed to have a couple of interesting conversations. I continue to fearlessly push the boundaries on the question, "How old is too old for a keg party?"

- I was supposed to have breakfast with Tommy's mom Sunday morning, but my car wouldn't start. That's right: Roxy Carmichael is dead. Tommy came over to jump me, but Roxy won't hold a charge, so I think she might need a new battery. I don't even want to talk about what a pain in the ass this is.

- Carless, I ended up back at the girls' house with Tommy for the 2nd Annual Post-St. Patricks' Day Party Hangover Irish Breakfast. Eggs, black and white pudding (a.k.a. blood sausage), Irish bacon (Canadian bacon with a brogue), toast, and tomatoes. They hauled their dining room table outside, so a big group of us had breakfast and coffee and read the paper on the deck behind their house. Lots of chirping birds and sunshine and general loveliness. Even the roar of airplanes overhead seemed pleasant. But remind me not to try to get back into crosswords by beginning with Sunday. There is no quicker way to feel like an idiot.

- After that, Becca and I went shopping to find some much-needed updates to our sad little wardrobes. I scored 2 new pairs of shoes at the Nordstrom Rack, and a sassafrass little skirt. Yay for Springtime!

- This afternoon was what we like to call the icing on the cake. I rode a scooter. Not only did I ride it, I drove it. It's true. My face hurt afterward because I couldn't stop smiling. I think I'm still smiling. The scooter was courtesy of the ever-generous Jeremy. I tried to make him some "Thank You Very Much Oatmeal Raisin Cookies," but they um, didn't turn out. I'm going to leave it at that and simply promise that someday in the future, cookies will be provided to those who spread the scooter love.

- Becca gave me a ride home from Sunday dinner tonight and brought The Rules of Attraction: a stupid movie about stupid people doing stupid things. It is to be avoided, especially on a Sunday night when you're trying to set the tone for your week. If the tone of that movie is any indication, I'll be sniffing coke in the bathroom by this time tomorrow.

So, that's the Cliff's Notes version (as you can see I'm attempting to rival Jack in the sheer volume department). What a weekend...there were highs, there were lows. But mostly highs. Yay for scooters and shoes and boys and skirts and friends and family and Spring.

Soon EVERYONE will be posting in massive detail and length....

Then, you too will need a bigger moniter to display all the words you write................

What is happening with the Miss Shamrock competition? Did I miss something? Are you out of the running?

The update is here.

FINE. I'm a quitter. Are you happy now?! You've made me cry on St. Paddy's Day. I hope you're proud of yourself.

Are they green tears? That would be cool.
