Like every other jackass with

Like every other jackass with a blog, I write poetry. *yawn* I know, you're so over it. Too bad.

I wrote this Thursday night; it's inspired by an amateur astronomer I know. I don't even know him all that well, actually. I have no idea where this poem came from; I was just driving down the highway, and there it was. I kept reciting it in my head, and then I wrote it down as soon as I parked my car.

can you see that
sliver of moon hovering
a million miles away like
a discarded fingernail
on the black night sky fingers
of milky way from here
to there stars scattered
a forest of palms my life
line my love line
i can read my fortune
in that darkness
can you see that
that is
the hand of god
